Conceptual equipment illustration.
Select a jet dispensing valve by proving the required deposit with the actual fluid. The valve, nozzle, controller and feed system form one dispensing arrangement. A maximum jetting frequency from a catalogue does not establish the deposit mass, shape or placement achieved on your part.
Within custom automation, the valve trial should precede the final motion and cycle-time specification.
Build a Deposit Window
Start with the fluid’s viscosity behaviour, filler content and working conditions. Nordson’s PICO Pµlse documentation describes modular fluid bodies, nozzle choices and thermal management. Its published operating figures are subject to specified settings; they are not universal values for every material.
For the trial, keep fluid batch, preparation and temperature identifiable. Record the feed pressure, valve settings, nozzle and stand-off used for each deposit result. Inspect both the first dots after a pause and the deposits produced during sustained operation.
Measure the characteristic needed by the product. A dot can have a similar apparent diameter while its volume or wetting differs. Select an appropriate mass, volume or geometric verification method for the application.
Check the Placement While Moving
Jetting can avoid a contact needle approaching every deposit location, but it still needs a controlled trajectory and timing. The receiving surface must pass through the verified deposition position.
Compare stationary trials with the intended motion. Look for satellites, missed deposits and changes near acceleration or direction reversals. Check the interval between the machine’s command and the deposited material; it belongs in the motion/valve sequence.
The broader dispensing-system design covers material supply and motion. Keep that system decision separate from qualifying a particular valve/fluid combination.
Maintenance Changes the Trial
List the parts that need cleaning, inspection or replacement and how the system identifies the correct assembly after maintenance. A newly fitted nozzle should not silently inherit a qualified deposit recipe if its configuration changed.
Test the defined restart after material replenishment and the permitted idle period. Reject or inspect the first parts according to the established process window. For medical-device assembly, preserve the part and process record required by the assembly task without implying that a valve selection itself qualifies the product.
A machine vision check can confirm a visible deposit’s presence and location. Establish separately whether it measures the material quantity that the specification requires.
Discuss the deposition task with Motionwell, including the surface, fluid and feature the machine must produce.
